SecurityScorecard Adds Two World Class Advisors to Continue Market Leading Growth and Innovation
On 19th July 2018, security ratings company, SecurityScorecard, announced the addition of two key advisors, former 75th United States Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, and Nick Donofrio, founder of NMD Consulting LLC and IBM Fellow Emeritus and EVP Innovation and Technology (Ret.). The addition of these highly decorated advisors will accelerate the impact SecurityScorecard has on enterprises that understand the importance of evaluating their cyberhealth and seek a common language to communicate their cybersecurity posture both internally and across their vendor ecosystem.
“Secretary Mabus and Nick Donofrio both have extraordinary accomplishments and will be integral to aiding us to reach new levels of innovation and to grow at scale while retaining our culture,” said Aleksandr Yampolskiy, CEO and co-founder at SecurityScorecard. “It is a privilege to work with such visionary advisors, and their willingness to work with us demonstrates the value and future potential they see in the SecurityScorecard security rating platform.”
Nick Donofrio is a 44-year IBM veteran who led IBM’s technology and innovation strategies from 1997 until his retirement in October 2008. As the vice chairman of the IBM International Foundation and chairman of the Board of Governors for the IBM Academy of Technology, Nick led the development and retention of IBM’s technical population and enriched that community with a diversity of culture and thought.
“The security ratings industry is growing year-over-year as organizations across verticals recognize the need to have a consistent language to communicate security posture across the enterprise and its vendor ecosystem,” said Nick Donofrio, founder of NMD Consulting LLC and IBM Fellow Emeritus and EVP Innovation and Technology (Ret.). “SecurityScorecard is well positioned to continue leading this growing market through the company’s unique security rating platform and being the standard in security measurement.”
Ray Mabus served as Secretary of the Navy under President Obama from 2009 to 2017. As Navy secretary, Mabus oversaw an annual budget of over $170 billion and almost 900,000 people. He earned global recognition for his efforts to rebuild the U.S. fleet, strengthen international relations, move the Navy away from fossil fuels, and promote a culture of innovation. During his tenure, he traveled over 1.3 million miles to meet with leaders in 152 countries and territories. Mabus has also served as governor of Mississippi, ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and chairman and CEO of Foamex, a manufacturing company.
“I have seen, in both the public and private sectors, the threat that cyber attacks pose. This area is one of the greatest, most complex and potentially most destructive challenges that we face today. The innovative and visionary solution that SecurityScorecard brings allows organizations to know the level of risk they have themselves, as well as third-party vendors. In joining the Advisory Board of SecurityScorecard, I am pleased to be a part of the solution to one of the overriding problems of our times,” said Ray Mabus, former Secretary of the United States Navy.
SecurityScorecard continually monitors over 200,000 businesses across the world and rates them on an easy to understand A-F scale. Companies that rate as a D or F are 5.4 times more likely to be breached than companies that rate as an A or a B. The platform also provides ratings across 10 risk factors, which give deeper insights into the company’s security.
