Thousands of jobs to be created as plans receive approval for flagship logistics park in Sheffield

Thousands of jobs are set to be created as a 838,000 sq ft new flagship prime logistics park, located on the site of the former Outokumpo works in Sheffield, has been given the go-ahead.

The plans by site owner Peel Logistics Property will bring new employment opportunities back into a 50-acre brownfield site on land off Shepcote Lane, J34 M1.

Full planning consent was agreed for phase one comprising 179,000 sq ft of development, alongside outline permission for the 660,000 sq ft phase two, by planners from Sheffield City Council.

The Sheffield office of Knight Frank have been appointed along with CBRE and Moriarty & Co to market the scheme.

Neil Dickinson from Peel Logistics Property said: “This is great news for Sheffield. We are very pleased to have secured planning permission on this prime site, which is ideally positioned to serve both national and urban logistics occupiers as well as the local and regional market.

“This is another positive step in our strategy to grow Peel Logistics Property into a leading UK logistics real estate development and investment management business.”

Rebecca Schofield, Knight Frank partner, added: “Peel Logistics Park will be an impressive and nationally significant 50-acre development site in the heart of the Sheffield City Region.

“We are confident that the site will prove attractive to the market and help satisfy the need for urban logistics predominantly driven by operators looking to offer enhanced delivery solutions to customers.’’

CBRE assisted with securing the planning consent. Two units are proposed in phase one, which will be accessed off Shepcote Lane. Unit one will be 45,000 sq ft and unit Two 134,000 sq ft which we hope to be on site with later this year.

Phase two of the development comprises approximately 34.5 acres of land and can accommodate a further 660,000 sq ft

Planning permission has been granted for B1, B2 and B8 use.
