Gavin Somers appointed to oversee Barratt Homes’ new Bristol development
Gavin Somers has been appointed as site manager at Filwood Park - Barratt Homes’ new development in Bristol where work is underway to create a community of 150 new homes.
Gavin will be responsible for overseeing construction at the site, liaising with construction workers, subcontractors and suppliers. With more than 31 years’ experience in the housing industry, he previously worked on Barratt’s successful Otters Reach development in Taunton and will play a key role in mentoring local apprentices working on this latest new community.
He said: “We produce top quality homes with expert tradesman and we work hard to achieve a high quality finish on every property we build. We take great pride in building homes knowing they are the biggest purchase someone will ever make in their life.
“Being able to hand over the keys to someone’s dream home is a feeling that’s hard to beat.
“Filwood Park is a great regeneration project for the area. It’s such a stand out development because each home has a lot of thought put into the design and build – the attention to detail is incredible. I’m very proud to be building these homes and excited to finish the development.
“We’ve also been able to take on two new brick laying apprentices and help them out after they lost their roles with Carillion. I’m really proud that we could offer these talented apprentices a role here and keep them on track with their training.
“Progress is going well and we’re all looking forward to opening the doors to what will be an impressive new community at Filwood Park later this year.”
Barratt Homes managing director Russell Glimstead said: “We are delighted to have Gavin at the helm of our new development and know he will do a stellar job. Site managers such as Gavin play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality new homes and it is this quality which should inspire confidence in our buyers.”
Filwood Park is situated just south of Bristol which has been voted the best city to live in by The Sunday Times. Homes will be located within walking distance of useful local amenities including a cinema, restaurants, schools and several supermarkets.
There is also a variety of good transport links with the redeveloped A4174 and the new metro link also close by. Commuters moving to the new development will have the perfect place in which to call home.
