ELLESMERE PORT THE TOP PICK FOR SOUTHERN RETIREES
Making the move up north has been a smooth transition for one Gloucester couple who are now mortgage-free in Ellesmere Port, at Countryside’s new Wellington Place development.
Recent retirees Andrea (62) and David James (63) moved into their new three-bedroom Ellesmere semi-detached home last month, after making the move from the South West to the North West.
Andrea, who previously worked for the NHS, commented: “We love it! The kitchen really is the heart of the home and that’s what convinced us to buy the Ellesmere. The size and open-plan layout is fantastic, especially with the French doors opening up into the garden - it’s very stylish and we’ve had a lot of compliments already.

The couple, who moved from a three-bedroom, link-detached home in Churchdown village, had already set their sights on Ellesmere Port due to family connections within the area.
Andrea, added: “We have family up here, so Ellesmere Port is an ideal location. Also, with house prices being much lower in the north compared to the south, it meant we could downsize without sacrificing too much and we no longer have a mortgage.
“We were on a bit of a deadline to find a house, as we’d sold our previous home and the new owners wanted to move in within eight weeks! We viewed another development near to Wellington Place, but it wasn’t for us. That same day, we happened to see the Countryside flags outside the sales office and popped in to have a look… Three days later we reserved our new home! Thanks to the assistance of Penny and Annabel in the sales office, we found buying our new home with Countryside to be a very smooth and pleasant experience.
“The development is perfectly placed. Everything that you could possibly need is within an easy reach, so we can just sit back and enjoy our retirement. I’m looking forward to inviting friends and ex-colleagues from Gloucester to visit us once the rest of the furniture has arrived and we’ve turned it into our finished home.”
