New board member for NCBF
Adam Harker has been appointed to the board of Northern Counties Builders Federation (NCBF) an organisation which promotes the interests of the construction industry in the northern region.
Adam, who began his career as a Quantity Surveyor, has been working within the civil engineering sector for the last 11 years for Seymour Civil Engineering where he sits on the board of directors as Contracts Director. Adam has an MSc in Quantity Surveying and is also a member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Association of Cost Engineers (MACostE).
Speaking about his new role, he said: “I hope to bring a different perspective and some new ideas to the committee and I’m looking forward to helping the NCBF to continue the great work that it does in the region. The role provides me with a unique opportunity to be part of a team of peers who are looking to drive the construction industry forward within our region.
“I hope to bring some of the experiences I have gained in my current role to the committee, particularly in relation to wellbeing, training and health and safety in which, as a business, Seymour Civil Engineering has won numerous awards in recent years.
“Following the recent failings within the UK’s leading Tier One contractors, there is a real voice for change within the industry to drive more work down to regional self-delivering contractors and NCBF is heavily involved through the financial support it offers to Construction Alliance NorthEast which represents over 500 regional SMEs, so I am looking forward to getting involved in this.”
Welcoming him to the board, Ken Parkin, chair of NCBF said: “The region has a great many high-quality SME organisations involved in the construction industry and we are committed to ensuring a sustainable future for the region’s contractors. I am sure that Adam’s experience and enthusiasm for the task will be an asset to NCBF in the future and I welcome his appointment.”
