Riding charity spurred on by generous donation
A Malvern-based Riding for the Disabled group has received a £1,000 donation from a regional builder.
Persimmon Homes South Midlands, based in Studley, donated the money to Malvern Hills Group Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) through its Community Champions scheme. The builder chose the group to benefit from its monthly match-funded donation.
The group, reliant on voluntary help and donations, provides therapy for children with physical and learning difficulties.
Barbara Williams, a Trustee from the group, said: “We are so very grateful to Persimmon Homes South Midlands. We rely on donations like this, so we can continue with the work we do.
“Through specially designed activities, the group ensures that every child receives tailored care and attention, physical and psychological therapy, enjoyment and a chance to achieve goals.
“We work closely with children from a school based in Worcester. This grant will enable us to continue creating an effective environment for self-expression and learning for those children who come to visit us as part of their school day.”
Carol Selway, sales director at Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said: “Malvern Hills Group RDA is clearly in demand and providing a valuable service. We are more than happy to support them.
“If people were unsuccessful in their Community Champions application, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again and hopefully they will become our next recipient.”
The housebuilder has applied for planning permission to build more than 300 new homes as part of the regeneration at Malvern Technology Centre. The development will comprise two-bedroom apartments and three, four and five-bedroom homes.
Persimmon Homes South Midlands is currently building across the region. For more information, or to nominate and to find out more about Community Champions, visit: www.persimmonhomes.com.
