Region's Leading Creatives Come Together For Innovation Breakfast Networking
A collective of the region’s most forward-thinking entrepreneurs will come together in Durham early next month to help science, engineering and tech businesses master the art of raising private finance.
Taking place at Salvus House in Durham on Tuesday 4 September, Innovation Breakfast Networking, a free event, will see the likes of car insurance disruptors honcho and digital consultants hedgehog lab take centre stage and has been billed as a must attend date for those who want to know more about how to secure investment.
The joint event, hosted by Durham County Council and Digital Union, will welcome three entrepreneurs who have successfully raised a combined total of at least £3m in recent years, and run some of the most exciting digital businesses in Durham and Newcastle.
Gavin Sewell, CEO of honcho, who oversaw his company’s highly successful £830,000 Crowdcube funding campaign in the early stages of 2018, has said it promises to be a productive morning for the tech businesses of tomorrow.
He said: “The Innovation Breakfast Networking event represents the chance to share my experiences on the honcho journey with the business community in the North East alongside two other regional entrepreneurs. We hope to provide guests with highly insightful stories.
“I’m very keen to help the North East business community where possible and I want to share our experiences of how to access capital.
“Anyone who is interested in early stage funding for their start-up should attend and I’m looking forward to delivering this alongside two other great companies; Realsafe Technologies and hedgehog lab.”
“hedgehog lab is a fantastic post-PC development agency who are expanding rapidly and winning multiple awards, so our guests will be in good company.”
honcho has been heralded as the UK’s first reverse auction marketplace for car insurance and is set to save motorists thousands of pounds when its app makes its full scale nationwide launch later in the year.
honcho recently moved to new offices in Durham from Newcastle in preparation for the launch and has been overseeing the final phases of the development of its technology with the Newcastle based app developers, hedgehog lab.
“honcho wants to change the face of insurance and financial services distribution for the better,” adds Gavin.
“We want to be a brand that stands for consumer-centricity, openness, transparency and equitability, saving both consumers and insurers money. We can’t wait to launch and are looking forward to making a genuine and positive difference to the current car insurance market.”
Innovation Breakfast Networking promises to give an insider view into some of the dos and don’ts of getting investment for innovative ideas from the region’s best new entrepreneurs.
