New care home manager opens doors for fun filled open day
A North Lincolnshire based learning disability care home recently opened its doors to the public for an informal, educational ‘Meet the Manager’ open day.
Newly appointed manager Anita Gregory organised the event which took place at The Birches, a not for profit Hica Group home, based in Brigg.
Visitors included families of current residents and members of the local community.
Anita joined The Birches this summer having previously managed The Hollies, another Hica Group care home.
She has a 15-year background in care sector work, including learning disability support, having worked for Mencap prior to joining the Hica Group.
The open day featured a barbeque, live performance by saxophonist ‘Fozzi-Sax’ and fundraising activities including a tombola.
Over £150 was raised and will go toward future events and activities within the home, along with other desirable technology.
Anita Gregory said: “I’m enjoying my new role and I’m settling in well. I hadn’t had the chance to meet all our residents’ families, so I’m glad they came along to our open day.
“I’m pleased with how the event went, it was relaxed and informal, the entertainment was enjoyed, our residents loved having the extra company and visitors felt comfortable asking questions.
“We definitely raised awareness of what we do here and the event will continue to benefit our residents through purchasing VR equipment.”
