Trainees Take Top Spot
Stratus Technologies have announced the handover of its daily running from the current Managing Director, Gavin Scotchbrook to two former trainees, Steven Cox and Dale Waring. The three previously worked together at Agile, before making the move to Stratus in 2016.
Stratus forms part of the technology division of Unity Tech Group, which services large and medium-sized organisations across the UK. The group consists of several other specialist units over two divisions: technology and business.
As Teesside’s biggest wholesale communications provider, Stratus works with over 600 partners nationwide to provide comprehensive connectivity solutions including telecoms and internet services.
Along with its Teesside based data center, the company has seen as impressive growth to £3 million turnover since its formation in 2016.
A new sales and operations function led by Steven and Dale will allow the business to add new customers and further job creation in the local area, so they are better placed to achieve the company’s growth aspiration of £10 million within the next 5 years.
Dale joined Agile in 2013 as a trainee software engineer, before moving to Stratus to take up a role dealing with provisioning and service development support. In his new role as Head of Operation, he will assume all operational responsibility and add more service staff to his team.
He said “I’m excited for the opportunity to repay the faith that Simon and Gavin have placed in us. This sort of progression has been on my radar since I graduated from Teesside University.”
Steven has formed part of the sales teams at both Agile and Stratus since 2014. He currently manages a team of 4 which he intends to expand. He hopes to develop new relationships within the sector and achieve an annual revenue increase of 40%. Speaking of his new role, he said: “This is a great opportunity for Dale and I to show what we’re all about. We’ve got big plans for Stratus and we’re both eager to get stuck in and get started.”
Gavin said: “I am so proud of the guys. This is the start of a new era for Stratus and I’ve got total faith that their taking the wheel will have nothing but a positive impact on the company.”
Unity Tech Group CEO, Simon Scotchbrook has high hopes for the future: “Stratus has had great success over the last two years. It has seen growth across the business in terms of its people, customers, products and revenue.”
“Stratus is embarking on another exciting chapter and I am pleased that Steve and Dale are going to help with our scaling aspirations!”
