Unilever quits 'controversial' plans to ditch its London HQ
British-Dutch consumer goods firm, Unilever has slashed its plans to quit its headquarters in London.
The company - behind Marmite and Dove Soap - was planning on moving to the Netherlands, but will now retain both its UK and overseas offices.
Unilever has two parent holding companies: Unilever plc - shares are listed in New York and London - and Unilever NV, based in Rotterdam, whose shares are listed in Amsterdam and New York.
The consumer goods giant said it quit under ‘growing concerns’ of the move, despite wanting to relocate to strengthen its corporate structure.
However, the company realised that the proposal of moving had not been received enough support from a high amount of ‘significant’ shareholders.
