East Yorkshire poultry firm to create 15 jobs with £1.6m factory extension
Soanes Poultry, the family-owned chicken specialist based in East Yorkshire, is creating more than a dozen jobs with plans to ramp up capacity.
A £1.6m project to extend the firm’s poultry factory will increase capacity by 20% from June next year, creating 15 employment opportunities in its sales, marketing, processing and distribution teams.
The scheme is part funded by the European Agriculture Fund for Rural Development with a £583k grant, secured for Soanes by Westley Consulting.
Nigel Upson, general manager at Wolds-based Soanes Poultry, said: “The project will enable us to improve infrastructure, increase whole bird processing and expand our portioning capacity in response to customer needs.
“It’s a significant investment that marks a new and exciting chapter in Soanes Poultry’s history and goes hand in hand with a plan to upgrade our farms.”
Soanes Poultry currently employs 120 people and rears five million chickens annually.
It sells chicken and game to butchers and independent retailers across Yorkshire and to wholesalers nationally.
