MCS gets motoring with new JLR dealership

Midlands-based main contractor MCS Group has completed the construction of a new £6.5 million Jaguar Land Rover dealership on the site of the former Swindon Motor Park in Wiltshire.

Cambria Automobiles appointed MCS Group to deliver the 3.2 acre 44,500 sq. ft. redevelopment which provides facilities for an 18-car showroom, 22-bay workshop, 2 MOT bays, a large parts dept., and extensive used vehicle display and parking areas including a 130-space rooftop car park.

It follows the demolition of the former Swindon Motor Park building, at Dorcan Way, Swindon, to make way for a more contemporary structure, offering an improved experience and environment for customers and employees.

Ben Buchanan, senior commercial manager at MCS Group, said: “We are delighted to have delivered the new JLR dealership at Swindon Motor Park on behalf of Cambria Automobiles.

“MCS are market leaders in the motor retail sector with a great deal of experience and expertise in constructing and refurbishing high quality car dealerships on time and to budget.

“Working directly with leading manufacturers, developers and operators has enabled us to achieve a unique understanding of what drives the industry and we can be trusted to deliver in line with the corporate image of premium brands such as JLR.”

The new two-storey JLR dealership comes complete with a three lane drive in service area, three handover bays and ample customer parking. Taking 12 months to complete, it is the second project MCS has delivered for Cambria Automobiles this year, following the creation of a new Lamborghini dealership in Tunbridge Wells.

Jason Button, Group Property Director at Cambria Automobiles, said: “This is our second ARCH concept JLR dealership to be completed, both of which have been constructed by MCS, and once again the team have delivered a very high quality dealership facility. It is refreshing to work with a contractor who truly cares about the quality of the build, whilst ensuring the project is completed on time and within budget.”

Established in 2006, Cambria Automobiles is an independent UK motor retail group with a reputation for turning around under-performing businesses. The company operates five regional clusters, each with a turnover of £200 million and enjoys partnerships with the likes of Aston Martin, Bentley and McLaren.

MCS Group has built and refurbished more than 300 car dealerships since its inception in 2003. The Warwickshire-based company has worked on a string of high-profile projects for brands including Audi, BMW and Jaguar Land Rover, ranging in value from £50,000 to £250m.

The ambitious constructor has enjoyed a period of sustained growth in delivering projects across the motor retail, industrial, storage and distribution sectors and has set itself a target of increasing profits and doubling current turnover to around £200 million by 2020.
