Vegan and alcohol-free restaurant to open in Seven Dials

West End developer Shaftesbury has agreed a deal to bring London’s first fully vegan and alcohol-free restaurant chain to Seven Dials.

Due to open in December, Redemption will set up at 2 Neal’s Yard and plans to offer sugar-free and wheat-free menus for diners on top of its fully vegan food selection. The site will be the company’s flagship eatery in London and, at 1650 sq ft, its largest to date.

With existing branches in Notting Hill and Shoreditch, Redemption already has a presence in the capital, but the new flagship will have a number of unique features, including the option of take-away food and retail space where visitors can purchase cookbooks and other merchandise.

Commenting on the news, Redemption CEO Catherine Salway said: “We are enormously excited to launch our flagship restaurant in the thriving Neal’s Yard. It is a tremendous step for our brand to have this beautiful space, which gives us the opportunity to exercise our ‘spoil yourself without spoiling yourself’ concept fully.

“The vibrant clientele of Neal’s Yard allows us the freedom to be experiential in trialling new exciting health foods and beverages from all over the world.”

Joining the new restaurant is the recently launched St John’s Bakery, which has selected Neal’s Yard to be home to its first permanent standalone site.

Julia Wilkinson, portfolio and group restaurant strategy executive at Shaftesbury, said: “Redemption and the recently opened St John’s Bakery will both enrich the dining and specialist food offers in Seven Dials.

“Redemption’s creative and healthy vegan and alcohol-free concept is a perfect addition to the eclectic lifestyle mix of shops, restaurants and cafes within Neal’s Yard, while St John’s quirky take on a traditional bakery operation creates a new element for Seven Dials visitors to experience.”
