Housebuilder acquires Wakefield site for 258 new homes

Housebuilder Keepmoat has snapped up land in Wakefield for hundreds of new homes.

The 19-acre development site at Milton Road will be transformed into 258 new houses, 77 of which will be affordable homes delivered in partnership with housing association WDH.

Keepmoat acquired the land from Wakefield Council and secured planning consent in May.

As part of the scheme, the company intends to make contributions towards local sports pitches and public rights of way.

It will also engage community organisations, charities and projects in the area, and support Wakefield through a Social and Economic Investment Fund to back initiatives that will positively impact on the local community.

Keepmoat Homes’ land and partnerships director, Dan Crew, said: “At Keepmoat Homes we have a long history of working in Wakefield and we’re delighted to be delivering a further 258 new homes in the district through this new development.

“I’m also pleased to be continuing our partnership WDH which will see the delivery of 77 new affordable homes on this site.”

He continued: “At Keepmoat we’re committed to developing homes that support the local community which is why this site will have homes suitable for both first time buyers and those buyers looking to up-size, as well as providing the much needed provision of more affordable homes.”

Work on the development is due to start later this month.
