Music-inspired brewery launches debut taproom in Haggerston

A London-based brewery that makes beer inspired by music has created jobs with the launch of its debut taproom.

Signature Brew used a £100k invoice finance facility from NatWest to support the opening of the Signature Brew Taproom & Venue in Haggerston, East London.

The expansion led to the creation of seven jobs, bringing Signature’s total employee count to 21.

Tom Bott, who co-founded the brewery seven years ago with business partner Sam McGregor, said: “When we started out in 2011 our long-term goal was to change the face of beer in music venues, we’ve achieved this by bringing great beer and great music together time and again.

“It was only right that our next step for growth was to launch our debut taproom that has fresh beer and live music at its heart.”

He added: “The support, advice and financial knowledge from NatWest has given us access to the cash flow we needed to secure our first ever venue and we are excited to be open here in East London.”

NatWest relationship manager Manveer Degun and business growth enabler Daniel Copsey supported the deal.

Daniel commented: “Signature Brew has a truly unique business model and the fact that it has tripled the size of its business over the last three years, is a testament to the quality of its products and determination of Tom and Sam.

“We’ve supported the business since 2016 and thanks to the finance we have provided, they are now a well-established brewer and soon-to-be established bar operator.”

He added: “I look forward to supporting the team as it continues on its future growth journey.”

To fund the next step on its growth journey, Signature Brew has embarked on a crowdfunding campaign with Crowdcube.

At the time of writing, the company had raised well over half (£252k) of its £400k target. The investment will go towards relocating and installing a new brewhouse.
