Nicola Evans, Bridge McFarland

A solicitor specialising in clinical negligence work is joining law firm, Bridge McFarland.

Nicola Evans has joined the firm’s Grimsby office as a senior solicitor. In her new role, Nicola will focus on supporting the victims of medical negligence. Nicola’s specialism is in complex claims involving serious injuries and fatalities.

She has experience in advising and supporting bereaved families and supporting parents of brain injured children as a result of birth trauma and has acted on a number of successful litigated claims.

Nicola commented: “My first priority at the start of every clinical negligence claim is to ensure I provide support to my clients and understands their objectives from the outset.

“Clinical negligence claims are inherently complex in nature and can sometimes take several years to reach a conclusion.”

Kay Sliwinski, Barnsdales

Property specialist, Barnsdales has appointed Kay Sliwinski to the new role of finance director.

The company, which serves clients nationwide from offices across the North and the Midlands, is expanding its team and activities - including commercial and residential property and the growing Barnsdales FM division.

It recently completed the acquisition of South Yorkshire-based Bridge Property Management and agreed a deal with Henley Healthcare and Topland to manage a portfolio of 100 flats at several UK locations.

Kay will take responsibility for all of the financial aspects of the Barnsdales group businesses including all financial modelling, projections and business planning.

She will report directly to the company’s managing director, Jason Barnsdale, and to Clive Chippindale, managing director of Barnsdales FM.

Mr Barnsdale said: “We are an expanding business in terms of workload and staff. We have taken on another 300 properties as part of the Bridge Property acquisition and the deal with Henley Healthcare and Topland and it was time to strengthen the management team and the procedures within all areas of the business.

“Kay brings valuable experience of mergers and acquisitions and has worked closely with the construction and banking sectors and she will help us streamline the focus of the business.

“We have a very high level of professional expertise within our team and we need to support that.”

Ben Hall, Colliers International

Colliers International has appointed Ben Hall who joins the firm’s national capital markets team as a director.

Ben joins from GVA, where he was a regional senior director and head of the Leeds office.

Reporting to Colliers’ head of capital markets, John Knowles, Ben will be based in the Leeds office and have an objective of building a market leading investment presence in Yorkshire and the North East.

John Knowles said: “Ben has an exceptional track record in the Yorkshire and North East region, transacting over £500m of commercial property deals over the last five years.

“In his new role, Ben will work closely with James Preston and Chris Ward in our Manchester office to provide investment advice to our clients across the Northern region.”

Ben himself added: “It’s clear that Colliers is committed to strategically growing its National Capital Markets business in the UK and this was exemplified recently in the launch of its Debt Advisory team, as well as the recruitment of a number of high profile directors across the UK.

Tom Smith, Advanced Dynamics Ltd

Packaging industry supplier, Advanced Dynamics Ltd has promoted sales director Tom Smith.

The news comes as the company adopts a new approach to gaining business and customer relationships. Tom will aim to provide a service designed to give all customers the ultimate experience.

He said: “As we move forward we aim to be different. A partnership between supplier and buyer can be mutually beneficial for both.

Florian Sanson, Saftronics

Florian Sanson has been appointed as senior project manager at Leeds-based manufacturer, Saftronics.

Florian Sanson joins the firm after gaining a wealth of experience across many sectors.

Saftronics Ltd was established in 1979 and is located in Leeds in a purpose-built 2,400 m2 design, manufacturing and testing facility.

Mark Godfrey, managing director, said: “Florian has a wealth of experience in our sector, his unique mix of technical and commercial knowledge means that he understands internal and external customers with projects on a large scale.

“At Saftronics, we pride ourselves on solving our customers’ challenges and Florian has a natural aptitude for this.”

Mike McGowan, Applied Digital

West Yorkshire digital agency, Applied Digital has appointed a senior creative director following an increase in turnover.

The agency’s gross revenue has increased by 20 per cent year-on-year resulting in a programme of expansion and strategic restructuring to position it for future growth.

Mike McGowan has joined Applied Digital as creative director, bringing over 30 years of multi-channel, award-winning creative experience with him.

For the past 25 years, he has run his own consultancy, ByMcGowan, working with brands in the UK, Europe and the US.

McGowan will work in the agency’s office in Huddersfield and be responsible for delivering the full spectrum of brand development and implementation for Applied’s existing client projects and new business pitches, with a focus on digital marketing.

Speaking about Applied’s expansion, managing director, Steve Sykes, said: “We’ve entered our 19th year of business stronger than ever and with our continued growth throughout 2018, it was the right time to step up our game and invest in the agency’s creative offering.

“Our new business pipeline has increased year on year and we’re forecasting a further 20 per cent growth.

Lynn Steele, Fusion

Fusion have appointed project manager Lynn Steele to its growing team, to cap another successful year of growth.

Lynn joins Fusion having recently been at the NHS project managing software development projects. Prior to that, she worked in education in building augmented reality apps and developing eTechnology apps/platform for Kirklees College.

Lynn will be responsible for developing client briefs into a coordinated building services strategy.

She commented: “I’m excited at the prospect of working for Fusion, especially getting to grips with MatterSphere, legal software development and installation projects.”
