Crown Paints help hospice to spread Christmas cheer

Crown Paints are helping to spread Christmas cheer across the North West – by creating Christmas cards made by East Lancashire Hospice patients. Members who attend the Hospice’s Creative and Support Therapies (CAST) groups have put their skills to the test and created four stunning designs, which will be sold across the North West. Crown Paints’ Corporate Communications Executive Josie Cawdry, who sits on the company’s charity team came up with the idea. She said: “I thought it would be nice to do something with East Lancashire Hospice, a charity we have supported for a number of years. The cards will be on sale at Crown Paint’s Darwen Headquarters and in 17 of their decorator’s centres across the North West, with all profits going to East Lancashire Hospice. Each of the groups – the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday group – were set a different design brief and using different techniques like potato stamping, collage and stencilling they collectively created a design. Josie said: “The people in CAST have been working really hard and the majority of patients have contributed to different elements on a card. Each of the four groups have created their own card using a different technique. The designs look fantastic. They are far beyond my expectations.” An initial print run, printed by Ellison Printing in Rishton, have been ordered and the cards are expected to be in shops in mid-November. They are priced at four cards for £2. Josie said the campaign will raise vital funds for the hospice which cares of people with life-limiting illnesses in Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley. Jennifer Quinn, Corporate Fundraiser at the hospice, said: “We are so pleased that Crown Paint’s approached us about this project. Not only are the CAST members getting a lot out of taking part, it will also help to spread Christmas cheer while raising money for the hospice.”
