New driver and engineer roles now open at East Yorkshire Motor Services

Following a hugely successful recruitment drive this summer in which 68 new people were appointed, East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) is holding another recruitment open day at the KCOM Stadium on Sunday 18 November 2018, to attract new talent.

With around 30 roles up for grabs, EYMS is looking to fill seven engineering positions, which include bus mechanics and electricians, to help maintain its 300-strong fleet of buses and coaches. More than 20 driver roles are also available, based at the company’s depots in Hull, Pocklington and Scarborough. Anyone with a full car driving licence can apply and previous experience driving a bus isn’t essential, as full training is given. EYMS also welcomes applications from those with an existing bus driving licence.

Those who fancy a role as a driver may even be invited to get behind the wheel of a bus during the Hull open day and learn more about the excellent employee benefits and career development opportunities within the company.

Stephen King, Commercial Director for EYMS, said: “Since our recruitment event in June, more than 180 people have applied for driver roles with us. So far, 68 new recruits have joined the team with many more due to start, once final checks have been done and licences have been approved.”

He encourages anyone looking for a new career to come along to the event. “Join us in the ‘Dugout’ suite of the KCOM Stadium from 10am-2pm and find out more. We’re continually looking for people to join our growing team, and at the KCOM Stadium potential candidates will be able to ask questions, try out a ticket machine, drive a real bus, and find out more about a career with EYMS.”

Sharon Bateson, a driver based from EYMS’ Hull depot, added: “I absolutely love being a bus driver, you get to see a different view of the world every day and you’re constantly meeting new people. I would highly recommend it as a great career route.”

Attendees are advised to bring their driving licences with them to the event, if they wish to have a go at driving the bus.
