A Home To Last A Lifetime

With 84%* of first-time buyers seeking a family home rather than a ‘starter home’, buying a house really is one of the biggest purchases a person will ever make. For Carl Cooke and his partner Katarzyna, a forever home is just what they had in mind when they bought their new Countryside home.

Originally from Llandudno, North Wales, Carl and Katarzyna decided to buy their first home together to put down roots, start a family and advance their careers. Having searched for their forever home for over a year and a half, they finally found ‘the one’ at Countryside’s Wellington Place development in Ellesmere Port. Prices start from £169,995.

Carl commented: “We wanted to move from Llandudno as we were planning on starting a family and were also looking to further our careers. We just happened to be driving past one day when we spotted Wellington Place. As soon as we walked into the showhome we knew that we’d found the the one for us.

“It was while we were house-hunting that we found out Katarzyna was pregnant and then I was offered my dream job in the Ambulance Service, so everything came together perfectly at the right time!”

The couple moved into their new home in April and have since welcomed their daughter, Matilda. With their family growing, Carl believes they will be there for a long time.

Carl continued: “We love our new home, from the turfed gardens to the skylight windows, it’s perfect for us. We live on a square, opposite a park that Countryside built, which will be great for when Matilda is older and can play out with the other children. We have a really nice community here and everyone gets on well - we even have a Facebook group to plan social events such as an upcoming Halloween party. We’re thinking about growing our family in the next year or so and fully intend on staying in this home for the long term. This is the home our children will grow up in.”

First-time buyers, Carl and Katarzyna were able to buy their dream home through the Government’s 5% deposit Help to Buy scheme, having saved for around two years.

Carl added: “We wouldn’t have been able to buy our home without using Help to Buy, and my mum of course! We found the process quite straight-forward and Countryside were really fantastic throughout.

“We love it here and, since having Matilda, it really has become a family home. Katarzyna is looking forward to returning to a new role in the NHS after her maternity leave and our friends are also moving in around the corner, after we told them how much we love it here, so it’s definitely starting to feel like our home now.”
