Virgin Media and EE fined over £13m for leaving customers 'out of pocket'
Virgin Media and EE have both been fined £13.3m due to overcharging their customers who wished to terminate their contracts early.
The companies have been fined by the watchdog regulator, Ofcom, which stated that they had left customers ‘in need of cash’ due to such early-exit charges.
Ofcom has said that around 400,000 EE customers were affected, and those who ended their contracts had been overcharged by up to £4.3m.
In terms of Virgin Media, around 82,000 of its customers were overcharged by supposedly just under £2.8m.
