Leading business advisory group appoints National Head of Audit
One of the UK’s leading business advisory groups has promoted a highly experienced auditor and accountant.
Carol Warburton has been promoted to National Head of Audit for Baldwins Group and will be responsible for the quality and delivery of audits.
After qualifying with a medium sized firm in Birmingham, Carol spent the first ten years of her career working within the ‘big four’ accountancy firms in both Birmingham and Bristol.
She then joined KTS Owens Thomas in Cardiff in 2006 and was promoted to Director in 2009. She led the audit service line before the company joined forces with Baldwins in 2017 to become Head of Audit for the South West region.
Carol has advised a wide range of global and UK businesses, from listed PLCs and Groups to locally owned corporates and family businesses. This includes a wide range of industries and services, including charities and the third sector.
Cardiff-born Carol is also a qualified Chartered Internal Auditor and has provided consultancy advice in the private and public sectors, focusing on providing risk management, governance advice and strategic board advice.
She became a member of the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) earlier this year and is a past president of the South Wales district society.
“I’m excited to become the National Head of Audit for Baldwins because the group is developing rapidly, and with growth through new acquisitions, and our focus on audit quality; this is a remarkable and interesting challenge for me,” Carol said.
“As our audit team is made up of approximately 500 people across the group, as Head, I will now be supporting our auditors in the delivery of a high quality and effective service for our clients and leading the service line forward in the adoption of relevant new technologies.”
David Owens, Regional Managing Partner for the South West at Baldwins, added: “This is a deserved promotion for Carol, whose knowledge and expertise shines through every day.
“She is an excellent mentor for up-and-coming auditors because she is always willing to help them improve at their jobs.
“I know that Carol will thrive on the extra responsibility of being National Head of Audit and that this area of the business will continue to go from strength to strength.”
Steve Southall, Board Director, Baldwins, said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Carol Warburton as National Head of Audit.
“She brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role and emphasises the group’s commitment to providing a high-quality audit service to our clients.”
Baldwins has over 80 offices across the UK and is part of the CogitalGroup – an international business services group with annual revenues in excess of £450m, employing around 6,000 people across 176 offices.
