Housebuilder lays out plans to deliver more jobs to region

One of the region’s leading housebuilders has revealed plans to continue to deliver more much-needed homes across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex and create new jobs.

Martyn Clark, managing director of Persimmon Homes Thames Valley, made the announcement following last week’s release of the business’s trading update for the third quarter of 2018.

“So far, 2018 has been an excellent year for the business in this region,” said Martyn. “We have opened new developments and phases at Shinfield, Littlehampton, Winnersh and Ashford Hill, and have further plans to bring new homes to West Sompting and Windlesham in the coming months.

“The business has created jobs at our head office in Camberley as well as out on site, and there are lots of new opportunities for local suppliers across our region. We remain committed to bringing young people into the business through our apprenticeship and trainee programmes, and currently have three based in our head office, three sales trainees and one trainee site manager.”

Persimmon Homes Thames Valley will have built more than 700 new homes by the end of the year and is already selling homes for completion in 2019 with a focus on building affordable homes for families and first-time buyers.

In a new initiative, in response to customer feedback, Persimmon is investing in the development of its own ultrafast, full fibre broadband service for new home customers, which aims to be available on moving day. The new business, called FibreNest, will initially provide a fast and reliable broadband service at the Ashford Hill and Shinfield developments with plans in place for rollout across every region.

“Alongside delivering new homes, our business is committed to supporting the local community through our charity initiatives,” explained Martyn. “Groups we have recently helped include Castle Hill Pre-school, Age Concern Bracknell Forest and Burgess Hill Town FC.”
