Home builder supports Stockton-On-Tees social care service

National home builder, Keepmoat Homes and local subcontractor HMH Civils teamed up to support Positive Individual Proactive Support Ltd (PIPS) a social care service set up as part of Transforming Care Agenda in Stockton-On-Tees.

PIPS which was founded in 2014 to support individuals who have transitioned from hospital with bespoke packages to enable them to live within their own homes as part of the community; approached Keepmoat Homes to support one of its service users who was unable to use the rear entrance to their bungalow.

Together Keepmoat Homes and HMH Civils constructed a new path enabling the user full access to the rear of the building. It also allowed the resident the ability to use a tricycle provided by PIPs and crucially enabled them to integrate with their community.

“When we were approached by PIPS, we felt it was important that we tried to help out. The service user who will benefit from the new pathway was very excited about the prospect of being able to get out and about in the community. We would like to thank HMH Civils for partnering with us and helping to make this happen,”

Andrew Davies, Commercial Manager at HMH Civils added; “HMH Civils has developed a close working relationship with Keepmoat Homes over the last five years and the Directors were more than happy to join forces with Keepmoat to deliver something back to the wider community via the PIPS Project.”

Paul Tillotson PIPS Deputy Team Manager added: “PIPS was established to respond to the Learning Disability Transforming Care Agenda and aims to support people with complex needs to live active lives in their local communities. We provide high levels of support in bespoke packages of care to allow individuals to live as tenants in their own homes. We were delighted that Keepmoat Homes was the first company in the region to support our work to enhance an individual’s lifestyle. Together with HMH Civils the construction of this new pathway has enabled a tenant supported by PIPS to access their community on their tricycle. This has improved the individuals’ confidence greatly and enhanced their quality of life.”
