Spades hit the ground for new affordable homes on Merseyside
Liverpool City Region is set for a boost of affordable homes as M&Y Maintenance and Construction start work on two new developments.
Lister Gardens on Crosby Road North in Sefton and Pavilion Point in Aigburth are being developed by Redwing Living and will provide shared ownership properties in two desirable locations.
Shared ownership gives first time buyers the opportunity to buy a share in the property and pay rent on the remaining share, meaning purchasers require a smaller deposit. The owner can then increase their share up to 100% during their time living in the property.
Pavilion Point has been designed by Paddock Johnson Partnership and the £1.6 million development will provide 14 two-bedroom apartments. The scheme has received £518,000 funding from Homes England.
Eye catching Lister Gardens takes inspiration from the art deco style of the former British Legion building on the same road and was designed by John McCall Architects. The £2.5 million scheme will be a mix of 17 two-bedroom apartments and three one-bedroom apartments.
The scheme has received £800,000 funding from Homes England.
Gill Kelly, Managing Director of M&Y Maintenance and Construction, said: “We are delighted to be starting work on two fantastic sites in the region.
“As an organisation, we are continuing to grow the construction arm of our business and this demonstrates how far we have come over the past few years.”
Fiona Coventry, Managing Director of Redwing Living, said: “We are really looking forward to bringing high quality, affordable homes to the Liverpool City Region, and helping first time buyers get on the property ladder. Lister Gardens and Pavilion Point are both set to complete in August 2019.
