St Anthony's School for Girls Donates to Local Food Bank
Pupils at St Anthony’s School for Girls have been inspired by the newly established children’s charity, ‘Mini Vinnies’ (an initiative by the society of St Vincent de Paul) to help members of the local community during Harvest time.
As ‘Mini Vinnies’, children are encouraged to perform good works in their community and the proactive girls at the Golders Green based school supported the appeal with thoughts of the less fortunate, by donating to St Marys food bank in East Finchley.
Bountiful donations of dried food such as pasta, rice, cereals and canned foods arrived at the school, with the girls working hard to unload the bags and fill the containers to send the Harvest collection on its way to those in need.
Interim Headteacher, Donal Brennan commented: “It has been inspiring to watch the girls work together with such enthusiasm to support our local community. They have reminded us all to stop, reflect and appreciate how fortunate we are to have cupboards and refrigerators bursting with food.
“The girls believe that spending time helping others, which is inspired by our mission statement ‘Our actions speak louder than words’, can be both satisfying and rewarding. We look forward as a school to providing further opportunities for our girls to engage in charitable work.”
