Lawyers in fashion as flagship UK store launched

A Birmingham law firm has helped a premium US-based women’s and children’s fashion brand to open its first standalone UK store.

Emms Gilmore Liberson (EGL) acted on behalf of Anine Bing when the fashion company selected a retail unit just off Bond Street in Mayfair, London, for its flagship store.

The former Starbucks café at Grosvenor Street will be transformed into a 1,340 sq ft store, close to the new Crossrail station. It has been let by landlords the Royal London Mutual Insurance Society on a 10-year lease. Agents acting on behalf of Anine Bing were PF Retail.

Anine Bing is sold in around 300 independent stores around the world, with flagship stores in New York, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin and Los Angeles.

Simon Jobson, commercial property director at EGL, said: “It is very pleasing to have completed this lease agreement which brings a high-end retailer to one of the UK’s premium shopping districts. There is huge demand for retail space in and around Bond Street, so it was important that we were able to agree terms with the London and Mutual Insurance Society on behalf of Anine Bing.”

Simon has worked on behalf of many retailers across the country, including some of the UK’s best known brands. Simon arranged the formation of Anine Bing’s UK operating company in addition to negotiating the terms of the lease and agreement for handover of the premises. Anine Bing was launched in 2012 with its headquarters in Los Angeles. Inspired by the fusion of Scandinavian heritage and American spirit, it offers luxurious staples, wardrobe basics and statement pieces. Founder Anine Bing is a blogger, and a former model and singer.
