Contractor chosen for 'ambitious' office development at King’s Cross

An ambitious office development at King’s Cross has taken the next step with the appointment of a contractor.

The transformation, being led by the King’s Cross Central Limited Partnership (KCCLP), is progressing with the appointment of BAM Construction in London to deliver the project known as 11-21 Canal Reach.

BAM, which recently completed the newest King’s Cross landmark, Coal Drops Yard, will now create the Bennett Associates-designed suite of new buildings, aimed at achieving the lowest carbon high quality commercial office building in the UK.

The development includes two buildings providing BREEAM Outstanding office accommodation.

The building on plot T2 will be 12 storeys high at its highest point at the southern end of the site, stepping down to nine storeys towards the north and will offer roof terraces with views across the city.

BAM is onsite now with work expected to be completed early in 2021.

Construction director Ewen Hunter said: “Nothing at King’s Cross is ordinary. Every building is ambitious and the client is constantly pushing what can be achieved for itself and others.

“Our teams embrace the challenge and our integrated model, involving our design and engineering businesses, makes us an ideal fit for the scale and complexity of this big building with a demanding design.”

Planning for the T-Zone plots were granted by Camden Council in September 2016.
