CityFibre take on new properties in Coventry

The company that is rolling out full fibre broadband in Coventry has taken on additional commercial properties in the city.

CityFibre is investing at least £60 million of private funds over the next three years to make full fibre available to even more businesses and, for the first time, residents across Coventry in partnership with Vodafone.

The company has let new buildings in the city that will become data centres for its fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) deployment activity. One of those deals was concluded through commercial property specialists Holt Commercial.

Chris Hobday, of Holt Commercial, said it was a further sign of CityFibre’s intent to invest heavily in the city.

He said: “Rolling out full fibre broadband across Coventry is great news for the businesses already based here as it gives them the opportunity to upgrade to the very latest technology.

“It also makes the city an even more attractive place to invest for firms looking to locate here as companies want to have the best digital connectivity which not only improves their efficiency today but also stands them in good stead for the future.

“We were pleased to support the growth of CityFibre in Coventry and its ongoing investment in the city.”

Leigh Hunt, who recently joined CityFibre as the City Development Manager for Coventry, said the network would bolster the demand for commercial property. She said: “It was great to work with Holt Commercial as we grow our footprint in Coventry.

“When businesses look to move they now expect to see excellent broadband connectivity, just like any other utility such as electricity or water. The work that CityFibre is doing will make Coventry one of the most digitally-connected cities in the world, which makes the city and its properties an even bigger draw.”
