Greenfield School voted as final 2018 Merthyr Community Fund winner
Greenfield School has been voted as the final 2018 winner of St Tydfil Shopping Centre’s St Tydfil Cares Community Fund and now has £200 to spend at The Works in the centre.
Schools and nurseries were invited to apply for the vouchers so they could update their library or arts and crafts materials. The shopping centre narrowed down all entries to a final three and the public was invited to vote for who they would like to win.
A total of 1,504 votes were received with Greenfield School topping the poll.
The school provides an education for children aged between 3 and 19 years who have additional learning needs. A popular part of the school day is circle time where the pupils enjoy listening to stories, so the school will be purchasing new books for the children’s enjoyment.
Alison Hamer from Greenfield School commented: “The pupils are very excited about the new books we will be able to purchase and we’re looking forward to reading new stories with them. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for us, and thank you to St Tydfil Shopping Centre for the generous donation of vouchers.”
Lee Simmonds, Centre Manager at St Tydfil Shopping Centre, visited the school to meet pupils and present the vouchers. He added: “Congratulations to Greenfield School on being voted as a St Tydfil Cares Community Fund winner. We hope the children enjoy their new books.”
