Manchester Cartime MD Raises £1,450 for Cash for Kids in Two Minute Toy Challenge
A £950 cash boost and an additional £500 worth of toys has been donated to Hits Radio Manchester’s annual Mission Christmas Cash for Kids campaign thanks to the generosity and sporting efforts of Bury-based Cartime and its Managing Director, Matt Kay.
A long-term supporter of the Hits Radio Manchester campaign, which delivers Christmas presents to children aged 0-18 who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect, Cartime Managing Director Matt Kay was challenged to see how many toys he could fit into a car in just two minutes. For each toy that made it into the Land Rover Discovery, Cartime pledged to donate £10, as well as the toys used.
Managing Director, Matt Kay, rose to the challenge and thanks to his fast feet and speedy reflexes, crammed 75 toys into the car in the time limit, raising £750 for the charity appeal. An extra £200 was added to the total thanks to a last second football headed into the car window by a Cartime member of staff – making the final cash donation an impressive £950.
Cartime has supported the Mission Christmas Cash for Kids appeal for a number of years and on top of the cash and toy donation, has once again provided the charity appeal with two branded 4x4 cars to pick up toys from collection points across the region during the duration of the campaign.
Cartime Managing Director, Matt Kay, said: “The Mission Christmas campaign in aid of Cash for Kids is such a worthy cause and we are always more than happy to throw our weight behind ensuring that every child in this region get the Christmas that they deserve.
“This year we decided to do our own fundraising drive and this challenge was a fun way for everyone at Cartime to give a little bit more. I seriously felt the pressure being up against the clock but 75 toys in two minutes was a respectable result and certainly something that I can aim to better next year!
“Anyone who would like to get involved in the Mission Christmas Cash for Kids Appeal can still donate their gifts via the collection point at our Bury dealership or others across the region.”
