Woking legal team recognised for innovative approach to modern law

A Woking-based team of legal experts – with a difference – has been highlighted as one of the most outstanding law firms in the country.

ESP Law has been shortlisted in the Boutique Law Firm of the Year category at the prestigious national Modern Law Awards 2019. All eyes are now on the glittering ceremony at Victoria Warehouse, Manchester on 31 January, when the team will discover which of the six finalists has scooped the ultimate recognition.

ESP’s entry has already been scrutinised by a team of judges, who learned that the team has increased turnover by 20% over the past 12 months and boosted net profit by 50% during the same period. The firm’s notable client wins, recruitment of top legal talent from some of the industry’s biggest brand names, and 90% customer retention rate, were among the entry highlights. The submission also detailed the success of ESP’s highly unusual mock tribunal event, which was based on a real case and featured barristers, tribunal judge and witnesses to provide an unrivalled education opportunity for clients.

Commenting on the shortlist news, founder Pete Byrne said: “With the relentless pace of change now experienced by organisations large and small, HR teams require fast, efficient and cost-effective access to day-to-day, commercially-savvy employment law advice.

“We’ve leveraged the opportunity brought about by the Legal Services Act 2007 and the introduction of alternative business structure (ABS) law firms, to deliver specialist, regulated legal advice to HR teams, via a guaranteed subscription price. We’ve tried to change the face of employment law, for all the right reasons, and are delighted that our efforts have been recognised.”

Now in its sixth year, the Modern Law Awards scheme was launched to celebrate dynamism, entrepreneurship and best practice in the ever-changing legal services arena.
