Primary school’s club get housebuilders support

A primary school in Newark-on-Trent has received the support of a regional housebuilder as it launches its new breakfast and after-school clubs.

Coddington Church of England Primary School received £1,000 from Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme to fund new sporting equipment for its clubs.

The school is aiming to increase pupil participation for its sports related clubs as it introduces badminton, futsal, American football and dance after-school clubs as well as fitness fun breakfast club sessions.

Chris Simmonds, PE co-ordinator for Coddington Church of England Primary School, said: “This is fantastic news, we very much appreciate Persimmon Homes’ support. “This donation will make an amazing difference to the children as well as our ability to improve the club’s facilities, delivering additional opportunities for our pupils.”

Each month Persimmon Homes donates up to £2,000 to community groups within the operating area of its Nottingham regional office which covers Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and into Lincolnshire.

This also happens across Persimmon Homes’ other 30 operating areas, meaning up to £60,000 is given out every single month.

“We have donated thousands of pounds to charities and groups in our area – and we’re not stopping now.
