Area will be transformed

A Gloucester community group has been awarded £1,000 by Persimmon Homes Severn Valley to transform neglected local playing fields.

PARCS, a local group of volunteers from Slimbridge, Gloucester, was donated the cash as part of Persimmon Homes’ hugely successful national Community Champions initiative. Each month the builder donates up to £2,000 to community groups across the region.

Lucia Sollazzi-Davies, from the group, said: “Thanks to Persimmon Homes we have now reached our target of £9,000 to fund a fully wheelchair accessible roundabout.

“The money will be used to regenerate the local playing fields, adjacent to our village school, transforming the heart of the village and ultimately bringing the community together.

“Making the space enjoyable and accessible to all, including those with disabilities is a key priority. Plans include a wealth of inclusive play and sports equipment and an outdoor amphitheatre.

“So far for this project we have raised a tremendous £85,000 and we are now due to order the final pieces of equipment to start this transformation.

“Both the group and the community are grateful to Persimmon for its support.”

“We are very happy to be helping to enhance the Slimbridge community and continuing to this fantastic project.”
