Derby veterinary practice is simply the best
A team of local veterinary professionals from White Cross Vets in Alvaston have been declared as the best in the country, winning the ‘staff recognition’ category of the ‘National Vet Awards’. The awards celebrate everything that makes a veterinary practice great, including the people and the work that is done to make sure pets receive the highest standards of care. Entries for 11 different categories were nominated and voted for by the general public and practice clients, before being shortlisted, and then judged by an independent panel of experts. White Cross Vets in Alvaston was one of just five veterinary practices from across the country named as a finalists in the ‘staff recognition’ category, with the team of 20 eventually scooping the prestigious National Vet Award. Vet, Laura Massey-Pugh, from White Cross Vets in Alvaston, said: “We are a really close team who always work hard to offer the very best levels of care for our clients and their pets. Typically we see around 75 pets every day, for everything from major operations through to preventative health care services, vaccinations, microchipping, weight-checks and even acupuncture. We make sure that we provide a welcoming environment so that pets feel at ease and we always give owners plenty of time to ask questions. “We also look after our team, providing everyone with two paid and two unpaid days ‘peternity’ leave to help settle in any new additions to their family, as well as giving all team members free membership of our ‘Complete Wellness Plan’ for up to three pets, which comes in handy because between us, we’ve got 38 pets, and that’s not including the chickens, fish, snakes and lizards! Everyone is also given a contribution towards a Fitbit to promote wellbeing and five donation days so that they can volunteer for a good cause or charity of their choice.
“Our practice on London Road has been open for more than nine years and we feel very much part of the community here. The award win is really special for us and it was our clients, and friends of the practice, who nominated and voted for us in the first place. Our award will take pride of place in our reception area and it has really helped to put our practice on the map!”
