Asad Shamim nominated as Business Leader of the Year in British Muslim Awards 2019
Three hundred of the most remarkable British Muslims are shortlisted as finalists for the 7th British Muslim Awards after hundreds of nominations are gathered from across the country. The award exists to recognise a wide range of achievements from outstanding individuals across the UK who positively impact business, charity, sport, arts, culture, religious advocacy, education and medicine among others, while simultaneously and unknowingly battle negative stereotypes.
The awards endeavor to showcase the strength of the British Muslim community, the impact it has on culture and its achievements over the last year with categories ranging from Muslim in the Community, Young Achiever of the Year to Spirit of Britain.
The seventh British Muslim Awards will be held at The Bradford Hotel on Wednesday 30th of January in Bradford, where some of the most accomplished and influential individuals will gather for a glamorous night to celebrate their success.
CEO of Furniture in Fashion “Asad Shamim” is one of the finalists in the Business Leader of the Year category. Asad will find out if he will collect an accolade at the elegant ceremony held in January.
“I feel proud of everything I have achieved in life and am very privileged to be in a position to be able to help those in need together with those who are under privileged. As well as running a successful online business, I strongly believe in the philosophy of helping others out in order to facilitate them to achieve success. I believe in the idea of volunteerism, philanthropy and actively participating in the promotion of the community. This has more recently been demonstrated through the help and assistance I have provided to the UK’s first diabetic professional boxer, Muhammad Ali. I have had overall responsibility in pursuing his fight against the British Boxing Board of Control in obtaining his Professional Boxing Licence as a diabetic boxer and have been the key player in making this happen. It has been due to persistence and hard work, that I have ensured that the British Boxing Board of Control have changed their regulations to ensure that diabetic boxers can now become professionals. The hard work paid off when Ali was granted his licence on 9 May 2018.
I have also built up my own independent Consultancy Service which helps assist companies that are in financial distress. Having the right advisory person or team is important to achieve the best possible outcome in an unfortunate situation.
I am also a Senior Advisory Board member for a UK law firm. As a senior advisory board member, my key role is building and maintaining important public relations role within the organisation and responsibility for implementing fundamental business development strategies, broadening an understanding of the business market and industry trends. My advice to others would be never give up on your goals and dreams. With hard work and persistence, you can achieve absolutely anything.“
