Housebuilder Avant plots North East expansion with plans for 496 new homes in the region

Sheffield-headquartered Avant Homes has revealed plans to build hundreds of properties and create jobs in the North East over the course of 2019.

The company is currently working on 18 residential projects in Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and County Durham that will deliver 496 homes and bring 350 new jobs to the region.

Around 30% of the properties will be built as part of the company’s ‘Bridge’ range, designed to bridge the gap in the housing market for more attainable homes.

They will sit alongside Avant’s Original range properties to offer a broader collection in terms of size, design and price.

Avant Homes, which has its North East office in Sunderland, is aiming to be delivering 4,000 units and turning over £1bn annually by 2023.

Last year, Avant launched 756 homes across eight new sites in the North East with a combined value of £176m, creating as many as 360 jobs.

He continued: “There is so much potential in the region and there is a need for more homes that are not only suitable for today’s modern buyers in the region, but also exceed their expectations and are more than capable of living up to the demands of contemporary living.”

The Avant Homes group currently employs more than 700 staff at its Sheffield HQ and offices in Sunderland, Stirling Wakefield, Chesterfield and Nottingham.
