Charity art auction set to showcase North East talent
Businesses and art enthusiasts are being invited to join a ground-breaking cultural event that will showcase the artistic talent of young people in the North East.
30Thirty, supported by Haines Watts chartered accountants and business advisors, is a charity art auction led by Gateshead based Youth Focus: North East. 30Thirty celebrates the youth organisation’s 30th anniversary by auctioning a collection of work from artists aged 30 and under.
The North East has a rich history of arts and culture, but starting a career in the arts can be challenging, particularly for those from economically deprived backgrounds. The event will provide young artists with a platform to promote their work to a different audience and earn income to and grow their talent, with artists receiving 50% of funds raised in recognition of their professional contributions. All additional funds will support activities aimed at improving the lives of young people in the region.
The event will be held on 22nd May 2019 at the former Palace of Arts, brought back to life as Wylam Brewery, Exhibition Park, Newcastle. Complete with three course dinner, guests will be entertained by The Stand and Edinburgh Fringe comedian Hal Branson, before bidding on a range of artwork, and investing in the future of the region’s young people.
Donna Bulmer, Managing Partner at Haines Watts, said: “We’re immensely proud to support 30Thirty and the development of local artists here in the North East. Our creative industries are very important to the region from both a cultural and economic perspective. The opportunity to give a number of young, up-and-coming artists the chance to display their work in front of a new audience and generate funding to further their aspirations in art is one which we are delighted to be a part of.”
Youth Focus: North East improve the lives of young people by developing solutions to the biggest challenges young people face. The award-winning charity, based in Gateshead and Middlesbrough, work alongside young people and professionals across the region to respond directly to the needs of disadvantaged young people.
Currently, the organisation is working to make a difference to the lives of young people who are overwhelmed by loneliness and isolation, at significant risk of becoming long-term unemployed, and those excluded from society by access to travel or their health and wellbeing.
