HOUSEBUILDER’S YEAR OF FUNDRAISING TOPS £16,000

A leading regional housebuilder has raised a record breaking £16,180 for its charity of the year, nudging ahead of the previous year’s total.

Staff from Persimmon Homes Severn Valley raised the funds for Children’s Hospice South West.

The housebuilder chose to support the hospice in January last year and throughout 2018 took part in fundraising activities and events to raise the cash.

Children’s Hospice South West cares for children with life-limiting conditions and their families by providing respite care and short breaks, as well as emergency, palliative and end of life care from its three hospices.

Steve Roche, managing director at Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “We chose to support Children’s Hospice South West as it’s a charity, sadly, that is close to many of my team’s hearts.

“It is an immense achievement to not only hit last year’s fundraising total but to beat it, and I am incredibly proud of everyone who contributed in any way.”

One group of individuals from the company, who donned themselves as the ‘Severn Valley Runners & Riders’, raised more than £10,000. From 10k runs and half-day marathons to multiday cycle events, the team have completed multiple events, including the Bristol 10k, Two Tunnels Half Marathon in Bath, Wales in a Day, and a London to Paris cycle challenge, to raise as much money as possible for the cause.

Steve added: “Sponsorships from these events and challenges have had a huge impact on the fundraising total. This group really went the extra mile for the cause.”

Amanda Gallagher, CHSW’s corporate partnerships fundraiser, added: “We rely on fundraising for almost all of our income, so backing from companies like Persimmon Homes is essential in enabling us to continue our work.

“We care for around 500 families across the South West so this support will make a real difference to their lives.”

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley also donates up to £2,000 to local worthy causes across the region through its Community Champion initiative. The scheme began in 2015, allowing charities and groups to apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.
