Holiday park operator with five North East resorts reveals £40m investment plan
Parkdean Resorts has revealed plans to invest £40.7m across its estate, which includes five holiday parks in the North East.
The leisure operator has earmarked more than £2m for improvements to its resorts in the region, including £892k to create 45 new accommodation units.
Parkdean is also recruiting seven new staff in the North East as part of a nationwide drive to fill roles in its sales, catering, administration, leisure and operational departments.
Of the company’s 67 resorts, five are in the North East – Church Point, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea; Cresswell Towers, Cresswell; Crimdon Dene, North Hartlepool; Sandy Bay, Ashington; and Whitley Bay Holiday Park, North Tyneside.
John Waterworth, chief executive of Parkdean Resorts, said: “We have lots of people that come along in twos on holiday so we will be introducing one-bedroom caravans for the first time with young couples, empty nesters and retired people in mind.
“We are very committed to investing in our 67 holiday parks as well as ensuring this year’s investment programme further enhances our facilities and the customer experience.”
He added: “Work is already underway to bring in these changes to accommodation, retail, entertainment and many other elements that make up the Parkdean Resorts experience.”
