Arsenal: Intel tech deal will allow fans ‘to step into the boots of players’

Arsenal have announced a new partnership with tech giant Intel.

The multi-year deal will introduce the company’s ‘True View’ technology to Emirates Stadium, opening up new ways for fans to watch key moments of the game – including through the players’ eyes.

Intel will use 38 5K Ultra HD cameras to record replay footage that can be frozen to offer fans a 360-degree view.

According to a report on Arsenal.com, fans will also be able to see the action from a first-person perspective.

The Intel partnership will also introduce a ‘laser wall’ with the display of a virtual line, giving viewers a clear picture of where each of the players is positioned on the pitch.

In a statement on the club’s website, commercial director Peter Silverstone said: “We are always looking to find new ways to bring our 780m fans and followers around the world closer to the action and this partnership will give our fans a whole new view of the game.

“Intel True View effectively allows a supporter to step into the boots of players and see the game from their perspective.”

He added: “We have seen the impact this Intel technology has had in other sports leagues across the world and are excited that it will be installed at Emirates Stadium.”

Footage recorded through Intel’s True View tech will be included in live TV broadcasts and club media channels.

James Carwana, vice president and general manager at Intel Sports, commented: “Immersive media experiences continue to create more opportunities for sports teams and leagues to put the fan experience first.

“With the expansion of Intel True View into more stadiums like Emirates Stadium, we have the chance to transform the experience for fans of one of the world’s top sports leagues with our leading and differentiated volumetric technology.”
