Machine tools business to establish 58,000 sq ft European Tech Centre in West Yorkshire
Colchester Machine Tool Solutions (CMTS) has secured a huge industrial unit in Elland, West Yorkshire.
The company, part of London-based machine tools business 600 Group UK, will occupy a 58,000 sq ft warehouse at Lowfields Industrial Estate on a 15-year lease.
The site will serve as CMTS’ European Technology Centre and eventually include warehousing and production facilities, newly refurbished offices, a showroom and training centre.
The Leeds office of property consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips (DHP) concluded the deal on behalf landlord Waddington & Ledger Group, which owns the site.
CMTS managing director Terry Allison said: “The unit was the ideal size for our future requirements and offered excellent links to transport routes.
“The location was also central when considering the spread of our employees.”
He added: “We are relocating from Heckmondwike to support our future plans and growth. This will be our headquarters and will be known as our European technology Centre.”
Mike Haigh, partner at DHP, commented: “This is a significant deal, underlining the growing strength of CMTS.
“It is also excellent news for the Calderdale economy, illustrating the popularity of one of its most popular industrial parks.”
He continued: “Lowfields is a tremendous success story. The rents are holding up exceptionally well in comparison to other industrial estates in West Yorkshire, underlining the exceptional quality of the units on site. It also helps that Lowfields is superbly located just off Junction 24 of the M62.
“Consequently it benefits from the immediate links to the motorway network. It is also very well-placed for both Leeds and Manchester and has excellent access to both the East and West Coast ports.”
