Persimmon Homes gets greenlight for Garforth housing development on appeal

Housebuilder Persimmon Homes has been granted planning consent for a residential scheme in Leeds after appealing the council’s initial decision to reject the development.

Planning and environment specialists from Leeds law firm Walker Morris secured the greenlight on behalf of Persimmon, paving the way for the creation of 290 homes in Garforth.

The scheme, which includes the demolition of an existing dwelling on the site, will provide 15% affordable housing and new public open space.

As part of the planning consent, Persimmon Homes will contribute towards improvements to local infrastructure, including bus stops and walkways.

Walker Morris partner Richard Sagar acted as an advocate for Persimmon Homes, while director Robert Moore provided legal and specialist strategic advice.

Richard said: “We are delighted at the outcome of the appeal and that the Walker Morris team were able to secure planning permission for Persimmon Homes.

“This is the latest in a number of successful planning appeals we have recently achieved for our clients, having secured planning permission for 600 homes for Hallam Land Management last week.”
