Heathcotes Group opens new services in Wistaton
Care provider, Heathcotes Group, has opened a new specialist residential service in Wistaton, Cheshire, providing support for adults with learning disabilities, dual diagnoses and associated complex needs.
An existing residential property on Crewe Road has been refurbished and redeveloped to create new accommodation comprising seven en-suite bedrooms with 24-hour support from 14 full-time care staff. The facility has been designed by Heathcotes’ in-house architectural consultancy, JDS Design, and built by contractors John Ryan Developments Ltd.
Heathcotes Head of Commissioning, Natalia Lysiuk, said:
“Heathcotes Wistaton typifies our core service model. It can be utilised as an intermediary between hospital and supported living, in line with the Transforming Care agenda, whilst alternatively providing a permanent home for those who may never be able to live fully independently, as independence is defined differently for different people. This new service development is a result of close collaboration with colleagues across Cheshire local authority and CCG, and I am really pleased we are able to support them with the repatriation of individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs into the community. Wistaton is the latest addition to Heathcotes’ estate as part of an ongoing growth strategy which also includes recruiting and training care support staff across all regions. In 2019 we are launching a number of other new services nationwide to support more people and help them to further their independence and achieve their goals.”
All staff at Heathcotes Wistaton are trained in NAPPI (Non Abusive Physical and Psychological Interventions) which is particularly effective when working with challenging behaviour. The service has two communal lounges, a large conservatory, shared dining space, shared bathroom on the ground floor and a large outside space with a garden area. With over 60 services nationwide and a head office in Chesterfield, Heathcotes Group has been a trusted partner to over 50 local authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups since 2004. The company has been rated by the Care Quality Commission as one of the top 20 adult specialist care home providers in the UK with 86% of services rated Good or Outstanding.
