‘New chapter’ for CRATE Brewery as Hackney Wick venue announces £500k crowdfund
CRATE Brewery is preparing to embark on a crowdfunding campaign to support a major refurb of its home in East London.
Next month, the company will attempt to raise £500k to overhaul its premises at The White Building, a former print factory in the heart of Hackney Wick.
The project will create a new experimental brewery, affordable workspace, extended ground-floor bar, event space and an outdoor amphitheatre-style seating area overlooking the nearby canal.
It will also deliver new restaurant space for Silo, the Brighton-based ‘zero waste’ restaurant founded by chef Douglas McMaster
CRATE Brewery was set up in 2012 by brother-and-sister duo Tom and Jess Seaton and their friend, Neil Hinchley.
Tom said: “We are so excited for this brand-new chapter in the CRATE story.
“The refurbishment of The White Building is going to allow us to really enhance our business and our creativity, with sustainability at the forefront.”
He added: “Douglas and Silo joining us is such an integral part of this for us, we can’t wait to see what the year brings.”
