Gym franchise opens in South East London thanks to NatWest funding
A new franchise of global gym brand Anytime Fitness has opened in South East London thanks to a £446k funding package from NatWest.
Located in Grove Park, the refurbished former warehouse is now a 6,500 sq ft multi-purpose fitness space with two studios, free weights area and a range of equipment.
The gym is managed by owner Amir Malik and his team of four full-time members of staff and two self-employed personal trainers.
Formerly a corporate finance consultant, Amir worked with NatWest to develop a business plan and secure funding for his first step into the fitness industry.
Amir explained: “I don’t have an entrepreneurial background, so a franchise seemed like the perfect transition to running my own business.
“I identified the Anytime Fitness business model as a strong option and thanks to the support and funding from NatWest, I have been able to pursue this business venture.”
Following the success of the Grove Park gym, Amir intends to expand the franchise and is in process of finding a location for his second site.
Jonathan Fordham, relationship manager for NatWest, commented: “Amir has always wanted to be involved in the highly successful health and fitness industry by owning his own gym.
“It is extremely rewarding to be able to support him with his first business venture and we wish him every success as he grows his gym franchise.”
