Newcastle Building Society to transform Berwick branch into community hub
North East based financial services organisation Newcastle Building Society is refurbishing its Berwick branch as part of a multi-million pound investment into its branch network.
Situated on Hide Hill in the Northumberland town, the branch will undergo 12 weeks of refurbishment to improve its services and transform it into a community hub.
Planned changes to the branch include additional space for transactions, improved access to services and the creation of a community space where local people and groups can meet and hold events.
Temporary facilities will be available in a portion of the branch, with a full reopening expected in June.
Stuart Miller, customer director of Newcastle Building Society, commented: “While many financial institutions are closing branches across the region, the Society remains fully committed to maintaining and enhancing a modern branch network that sits right at the heart of our communities.
Speaking about the refurbishment, he continued: “We’ve had a fantastic customer response to the various branches across the North East where work has already been completed… we’re already looking forward to unveiling the Hide Hill branch’s new look in the summer.”
