Green light for digital tech hub in Hull Fruit Market quarter
Planning permission has been granted for a new digital tech campus in Hull’s growing Fruit Market quarter.
Development of tech campus @TheDock at the previously derelict waterfront area has been given the green light by Hull City Council.
Situated in the Fruit Market area of the city, the two-building development will centre around the C4DI (Centre for Digital Innovation) tech hub, which is the base for approximately 200 local startup and scaleup tech firms.
The campus will house 31,000 sq ft of co-working spaces and offices, to be used by local digital entrepreneurs and businesses.
Hull-based commercial developer Wykeland Group is the company behind the new tech campus development, having already been involved in the wider regeneration of the previously derelict quarter.
Commenting on @TheDock campus development, Wykeland Group property director David Donkin said: “These new buildings will offer a range of sizes of offices to cater for pent-up demand from start up, scale up and established technology businesses that need space to grow.
“The growth of this tech community will add to the hundreds of highly-skilled and well-paid jobs already created on the site and help to consolidate the critical mass of like-minded businesses.”
