Barclays investment boost for Huddersfield’s Kirklees Stadium
The Kirklees Stadium Development Limited in Huddersfield has announced a new refinancing partnership with Barclays.
Home to Huddersfield Town AFC and Huddersfield Giants, the stadium has secured a refinancing deal with the retail bank, which will secure its future as well as provide flexibility for future growth.
The stadium, originally launched as John Smith’s stadium in 1994, has previously hosted the Rugby World Cup and is also used regularly for events, corporate functions and exhibitions.
Barclays relationship director Jon Lowe was instrumental in putting together the funding package for the deal and said: “We are delighted to have been instrumental in facilitating this new funding deal given the importance of the stadium, not only for sports fans, but for all the Huddersfield community.”
Gareth Davies, managing director of Kirklees Stadium, added: “We’ve been reviewing our financial support needs for some time. This led to detailed discussions with the Barclays team and their interest in us and supportive approach were immediately apparent; it was no surprise that they instinctively understood our business and needs.”
