Future of Hull to London rail travel revealed with new train fleet

Local rail service Hull Trains has unveiled its new £60m rail fleet ahead of its official launch at the end of the year.

In an event at Hull Paragon Interchange last week, Hull’s primary rail service showed members of the community a test version of the Hitachi Class 802 train, the model that will be used for its new five-train fleet.

With 30 per cent more capacity for seating than the existing service, the new trains will operate using a combination of diesel and electric traction.

The addition of five new trains is anticipated to improve reliability of rail travel in the area, with the trains predicted to transform rail travel between Hull and London.

Managing director of Hull Trains, Louise Cheeseman, explained: “This event was all about giving our local community a chance to see the future of Hull Trains.

“These trains really will revolutionise train travel from Hull to London and the countdown is now on until they arrive.”
