Innovation facility is latest proposal for new Sunderland manufacturing park

An application has been made for a new manufacturing and innovation facility in Sunderland’s International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) development.

The Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (CESAM) would cover a 126,279 sq ft site within the park, including office space, production facilities, a yard and 300 parking spaces.

The facility is the latest in a number of proposed developments in IAMP, with the park expected to create over 7,000 jobs and generate more than £400m in private sector investment in the next decade.

Cllr Iain Malcolm, leader of South Tyneside Council, said: “CESAM represents a facility that will transform the region’s capabilities when it comes to innovation, and that will make the North East an even more exciting proposition to investors.”

He added: “Despite market uncertainty, the momentum we are seeing, and the interest in this site absolutely demonstrates that the North East is open for business and a hugely attractive place to invest.”
